what borders have we created?
do ones of steel cross over somehow
into ones that constrain even love?
as days pass, will hearts be alone
changing slowly, surely into stone?
will words spew with edges steep
lead to memories hardest to keep?
and will light fade to dark of days
where are we headed these ways?
perhaps it isn’t too late to change;
can a heart, still filled with hopes,
share some joy, show the ropes,
start again, take a few steps back,
and take the not so beaten track,
maybe if we see we’re the same,
we’ll be kind, and stop to blame.
and perhaps, if or when we do,
not a border will remain so true.

Wishing all of you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2020. Welcome to #WednesdayVerses! Reema and I offer you this prompt each Wednesday to inspire you to write a poem. If it does, do write it as a post on your blog and come link up with us. The linky is open from now till next Tuesday night! Please add your post to the link only if it is a post written for #WednesdayVerses.
The prompt for 8th January to 13th January is the photo above. You can find it here as well.

I’m also linking up with Open Link Night at dVerse. Sharing there after a while. But the poets still seem familiar.
Alas I think we are better in building borders than bridges… the world need more connections not less.
Alas, that does seem to be the case, Bjorn 🙁 Let’s hope it doesn’t stay so always.
A good wish for the New Year.
Thanks Kerfe!
Nice prompt! Here’s my poem “Love Laws”.
I loved your take too, Priya! 🙂 Thanks!
A really great poem. Your questions are challenging and your words powerful. The second and third line are wonderful!

Thanks a lot, Frank. 🙂
So beautifully conveyed. With all that is happening in the world, we need more love and less hate. I just wish that there is still hope for the world.
(Reema D’souza recently posted… What have we done? #WednesdayVerses)
Thank you, Reema. We do need more kindness.
Hi Leo, Happy new year! Hope you visit and comments on other poems too.

Hi Grace. I’m sorry to have missed commenting on other poems. I’ve been in a very odd mood this year. I hope to join the next Open Night and make up for it.
That was beautiful Leo.. yes, kindness is all it takes..
Thanks Pix. I hope that is all what it takes. 🙂
