Home, yet not… #WednesdayVerses

the steps led into a hall
into a hall without a voice
I knew not its white walls
it held no memories’ noise
in front of me, walked they
the only ones I knew then
not once did they look back
they who I made into men
into a room, I was guided
just a table, a chair, a bed
an old musty cupboard
to keep things till I’m dead
in the distance, an engine
an engine roars to life
and as it goes slowly away
none hear my heart’s strife
not a home this, not mine
even if it is a home by name
for without love to share
it is just a house all the same

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
