Rereading Books

“If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use reading it at all.” – Oscar Wilde

There are a few books I quite enjoy rereading. Those who know my reading choices would know even the series I love. Harry Potter, a few books written by Agatha Christie, The Kite Runner, A Song of Ice and Fire (in particular, the first book A Game of Thrones), Enid Blyton’s books… these are some of the books.

There is comfort hidden in pages of books. At times, they hold memories of battles earlier conquered and that is quite sweet. Or it might be that these books are filled with hope. Though some readers say they never reread a book, I think every reader does have books they go back to, especially when in a down phase.

Then why do we not reread books often? I think we want to explore new worlds. The imagination loves to create images, and it would tire if we looked at the same scenes again and again often. Perhaps that’s why Frank Zappa says…

“Too many books, too little time.”

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. I pick similar books , same genre or styles .. comes close to re reading but a different one too.

And yeah the reason is too many books and too less times.
