Different

different

Different…

to be different is easy,
if only that were true,
no one accepted that,
they told me to be you.

your path, it was right,
but was it the only one,
yes, said a chorus then,
my no heard by none.

they pushed me away,
from the path I chose,
a new dream they saw,
another you, so perfect,
devoid of all my flaws.

I walked there till now,
but I cannot anymore,
I lost myself for others,
passion lost for chores.

it’s time to say goodbye,
find that old dream true,
to be different at last,
and be me, and not you.

wednesday verse different

As part of our resolution to write more poetry in 2018, Reema and I have started this weekly prompt we’ve decided to call as Wednesday Verses. Each Wednesday, we’ll be writing a poem based on the prompt of the week, and sharing a linky. We invite you all to join us with your own poems on the prompt. Write on your blogs, and link up with #WednesdayVerses. We are happy to have you rhyme with us. Welcome!

Prompt #16 is   “Different”.

Please link up only if you’ve written a poem for the prompt!

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. Beautiful poem, Vinay. Loved the flow of words and the idea that in a world where people wish to make us become like someone else, it can never be too late to stand one’s ground and be who we are, with all our flaws and imperfections. Joining you and Reema this week. 🙂

    • It’s never too late to chase a dream or be who we wanted to be. Age does pose some restrictions at times, but more often than not, it’s a myth. 🙂 Glad to have you join Wednesday Verses, Esha. Welcome, and thank you very much!
