This is my 9th attempt at the month-long blogging challenge, Blogging from A to Z. I’ve completed it 5 times so far. My theme this year is 7 Sentence Fiction, and the word I’m using for V is Venom.
A Potent Venom
The poison was spreading quickly. With each passing minute, the world seemed to be getting colder. The glances of everyone around felt piteous. He looked into their eyes helplessly.
Up until the moment, he had had belief that he could get somewhere. The faltering start hadn’t demoralized him at all, but his father’s words now felt like a potent venom, consuming him from within.
“You’re worthless, wasting your life away.”

Nice twist! And in seven sentences!
Thank you, CV Grehan.
So true. I have seen this in so many of my students. It is actually a poison that eats away at their whole self.

It’s not that they need validation, but those words of discouragement do sting, especially coming from someone, who at that age, we’re trying to impress too. And yes, that tends to slowly eat into the self, I think. Thank you, Sunita Saldhana.
