This is my 9th attempt at the month-long blogging challenge, Blogging from A to Z. I’ve completed it 5 times so far. My theme this year is 7 Sentence Fiction, and the word I’m using for T is Treasure.
The Treasure Chest
“The next clue leads to the attic,” Mayuri whispered excitedly.
“Are you sure? It could be somewhere else too,” asked her twin brother Mayank.
She ignored him and just pointed to the ladder, which was pulled down for the first time in ages.
They saw the trunk as soon as they peeped into the dimly lit room, and rushed to open it.
“Books and baby clothes and old letters, but no treasure,” cried Mayank, disappointed.
Below them, their mother smiled knowing the old trunk indeed held her treasure.

Beautiful. Indeed that’s the most valuable treasure for a mom.
Thanks, Aesha. I know it is so. I think my mom still has some such treasure hidden somewhere. 🙂 😀
So good to see you back for a ninth go around with A to Z. You were with us from the start. Today’s entry was great. It reminded me so much of this past Christmas when I took a bunch of my kids-who-are-now-adults’s stuff to them packed in boxes with each of their names. I was fun to look through and share memories. And it helped me get rid of more stuff out of my house.
I wouldn’t miss attempting the challenge, Arlee Bird. 🙂 It’s one of my favorite challenges. Thank you. Glad you liked this entry.
Ah yes the treasure of life indeed !!
(Ramya Abhinand recently posted… Tale- as in The Handmaid’s tale #AtoZChallenge)
Absolutely, Ramya. 🙂
You have a beautiful way with words. With just these words, an entire scene came alive in my imagination.

What a heart warming tale!!
Cheers,
