February Flies By (Not!)

If January 2018 flew by, February 2018 seems to have been slower. I’ve dropped slightly in my expectations for this year, but not enough for me to start panicking yet. The end of the year is still a long way away.

February 2018 Reflections

Reading and Writing in February 2018

The reading spree which started in January thankfully went into February. I read 18 books, which has a lot to do with Erin’s Book Challenge. Trying to finish it successfully (and soon), I enjoyed leaving the TV alone, and slipping into many worlds the books brought. From my reads this month, I would heartily recommend The End of Your Life Book Club, and Wonder. These two were my favorite reads of the month, along with Death Comes as the End, which is another Agatha Christie book I loved a lot. I also started my annual reread of the Harry Potter books too.

#WednesdayVerses weekly prompt continues its journey. Reema and I are having fun hosting it. The four Wednesdays had a poem on the particular prompt, and two of mine were haiku. I’d say I’m quite happy with the poem titled Calm, which is my favorite of the four. I didn’t reflect for Friday Reflections this month, but six posts (including this one), means I match the tally from January and I’m okay with that. April is just around the corner, of course, and I’m hoping to complete Blogging from A to Z.

February 2018 – Health and Life

At the end of January, I was feeling quite exhausted. So I decided to relax a little with my walking targets. I didn’t push myself to keep consistent with 10k steps each day, and allowed myself a bit of breathing space. I still walked over 200km in the month, so I’ve not come to a standstill anyway. I’ve not lost more weight, but I think I’ll increase my walking slightly in March, so I don’t start to gain back the weight I worked so hard to lose.

I liked that there was office work to keep me busy (busier than January anyway) this month, but I didn’t let that overwhelm me. I didn’t meet up with friends this month, but that will change early in March with a book launch on the cards. There’s also a house-warming function which I intend not to miss. These are two things I’m looking forward to. On the personal front, I think things are starting to look up, though I’m still waiting for an answer to some questions. I’ve said my part, and I’m clear on what I can do, but like I said in the January reflections, some things do take time.

A trip with family is on the cards. It has been a while since that happened. Just hoping the weather doesn’t put me under the weather (that happens at times). A friend is back in my life, but not really. It only seems so on the face of it. But I can accept that now. Nothing too exciting in February 2018. Maybe March might have more magic. Looking forward to it. Was your February fabulous?

Linking up with Monday Musings.

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
