Shadow of a Doubt

Shadow of a Doubt (A Poem)

Not a shadow of doubt,
I am where I’ve to be;
But this not all can see.
Each voice around me,
Says things so warily;
Each pair of eyes, theirs,
Wants me only to see,
What they want to be.
Different paths, ours;
Yet they talk as if not,
Different shoes, ours,
And different thoughts;
And yet their shadow,
Looms over my way,
Wanting this and that,
Every hour of every day.
Does it now creep in?
The shadow of a doubt,
Forcing me to change,
To someone I am not.

wednesday verse calm

As part of our resolution to write more poetry in 2018, Reema and I have started this weekly prompt we’ve decided to call as Wednesday Verses. Each Wednesday, we’ll be writing a poem based on the prompt of the week, and sharing a linky. We invite you all to join us with your own poems on the prompt. Write on your blogs, and link up with #WednesdayVerses. We are happy to have you rhyme with us. Welcome!

Prompt #6 is “SHADOW”

Please link up only if you’ve written a poem for the prompt!

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

    • There always exists such people, Jayanthy. I feel they are there to test us. 🙁 But sometimes, there are so many things cramping our space, even that test feels overwhelming.

  1. Hi Leo,

    It’s a beautiful piece of poetry – very simple and true.
    I have always been a fan of your work; was away from blogging for a while but now I am back; and guess what yours was the first blog I wanted to search for. Glad I found out
    Keep it up 🙂
