This poem is written for #WriteTribeProBlogger challenge, inspired by the prompt “Nostalgia”.
Also sharing with dVerse Open Link Night, Poetry Pantry and Friday Reflections.
Nostalgia
Now I sit down, uninspired;
Once upon a time, thoughts
Simply would come rushing,
Take me even by surprise;
And with pen kissing paper,
Love or hate, smiles or tears,
Good or bad, every emotion
In a moment had become
A drop of ink lost from me.

Too many posts about there being no post 🙁
We all go through such situations I guess, where we’re left speechless, at a loss for words.
This too shall pass, Leo.
(Bhavya recently posted… The Bitter After-Taste #Ishithaa)
I know. Seems a repetitive theme with me of late. Should try and fix that. 🙂 Have taken some steps with last month and this month’s challenges. 😉 I know this too shall pass, Ishi. I have supportive friends like you. 😀
Adipoli! Loved how you formed the lined with the letters of the prompt!
P. S. Read a book. Take a walk. Feel inspired again. ☺️
(Shalini recently posted… My Old Room)
Thanks. 🙂 I’ve tried all those solutions, T. But doesn’t always work, I’ve found.
Wow! How wonderfully you wrote this poetry using prompt and acronyms.
(Aesha Shah recently posted… Reminiscing Fond Memories Over A Cup of Coffee)
Thank you, Aesha. 🙂 It’s actually a poetic form 😀
Great poem that really captures the feeling of writer’s block!
Thanks, Alice. 😀
Whoa! That was a smart way of introducing “N O S T A L G I A”, each line starting with those letters! Do not feel uninspired for you are inspiring many including me!
I’m happy to know that my words are inspiring others, Keerthi. 🙂 Thank you.
Clever acrostic Vinay. When we pen down our emotions on paper, it does feel like losing small parts of us. It’s cathartic. Writing is the best therapy ever 🙂
(Sanch @ Sanch Writes recently posted… Hide and seek #FridayReflections)
Thank you, Babby. 🙂 Been ages since I wrote an acrostic, so felt nice. I agree that writing can be excellent therapy.
Such a beautiful poem Vinay! I like the idea!
Thanks, Jayanthy. 🙂
Very poignant, Vinay. Especially that last line – it’s just so true when we are lost for words, when we don’t know what to write, when we feel emotions but it doesn’t come out as words. Short but very effectively portrays the nostalgic feeling.
(Sreedeep recently posted… Noel’s Nostalgia)
Yeah. There are times when that block is so deep, it feels difficult to shake off. Glad you liked the poem, Sreedeep.
A nice acrostic. I like the lines:
‘And with pen kissing paper…
A drop of ink lost from me’.
Thanks, Kim. 🙂
A drop of ink lost by you but the thoughts become wisdom gained by the ones reading it. 🙂
Let’s hope that’s true, Varsh. 🙂 It would be nice if it were so.
I think this flow of words will flow again.
I will. It’s mostly a temporary stop at a dam 😛 Thank you, Bjorn.
I liked the suggestion of a link between a drop of ink and a drop of blood.
Glad you liked the play of words, Frank. 🙂
How lovely. Indeed there are days when inspiration just comes out of nowhere, and then there are days when you wonder if you ever had it in you. Beautifully penned down Vinay. Nicely done with n-o-s-t-a-l-g-i-a 🙂
Haha! 🙂 Yeah. The spelling makes for a good acrostic, I’m sure. Thank you, Rashmi.
“A drop of ink lost from me” – Wow! this line conveys so much about nostalgia and the feelings attached with it!! Beautiful Vinay!

Thank you, Shalini Baisiwala. 🙂 Glad you felt that this was a beautiful poem.
Like Bhavz said too many posts, like mine on writers block.
Guess this is one phase that keeps visiting us on regular intervals.
(Sheethal Susan Jacob recently posted… Out of the books …)
Yeah. It does keep visiting us often, we just have to make sure they don’t become paying guests. 😛 Glad you liked it, SSJ.
Well said! Somehow I can relate just that my thoughts are in simple language 🙁
Mine is complicated language? 😮 No no. I protest, Z. 😛
Sometimes we need to take time off and explore ourselves .. the muse is a fickle fiend which needs to be rekindled every now and then 🙂
(Sanaa Rizvi recently posted… The Ocean)
Yeah. 🙂 The time off definitely helps, but we’ve to realize it’s a time off and not retirement. 😛 Thank you, Sunny. 😀
Those uninspired moments can be crumbs for future poems!
Definitely could be, MMT. 🙂 It is a distinct possibility.
I know the feeling, nicely portrayed!
Thanks, John. 🙂
Ok I missed the acronym bit till Aesha mentioned it. Wow!
Every writer goes through this phase though. Take a break to refresh and recharge.
Break is okay. It shouldn’t end up being endless, that’s all. 🙂 Thanks, Mahak.
Every drop counts,
For it is the weighs our heart’s every ounce!
Thank you, Vandana. 🙂 I hope so too.
Ah, so many “drops of ink lost from me”! Great expression of nostalgia with which every writer can identify!
So many drops lost from each writer, I think. 🙂 Thank you, Bev.
I resonate with these words, Leo, as am in an uninspired patch these days. However, the words will return again….they always do.
(Sherry Blue Sky recently posted… A TERRIBLE BEAUTY)
I hope you break out of that uninspired patch soon, Sherry.
I love kissing paper and “drop of ink lost from me.”
Thank you, Colleen. 🙂
Bravo! This was short and wise. I love that about a poem! thanks!
(Jamztoma recently posted… Poem: THE TRUTH)
Glad you felt it was short and wise. 🙂 I like that about poetry too, Jamztoma,
I have felt this way sometimes as well. Sometimes I think that I have written about so many subjects that it is difficult to think of something that is fresh and original. You have expressed the dilemma well, and I wish you well as you find your words!
That’s a fresh perspective to the dilemma, Mary. Definitely thought-provoking! Thank you.
The muse never disappears, she always returns!
Thank you, Rajani. 🙂 Yes. She does return, more often than not.
I love how all emotion becomes “a drop of ink lost from me” great
Yes. It is just a drop, because the inkwell is quite infinite. 🙂 Thank you, Marja.
This is such a beautiful poem, Vinay. The words and flow and how it makes us travel in an imaginary world. 🙂 Keep writing.
Thank you, Ashwini. 🙂 Glad you felt the words flow well.
Dry spells do remind us of days when words rained down on us
(Namy recently posted… Heart aches)
Yes, I guess it does do that. 🙂 Thank you, Namy.
Can I say that I connect so much with these words? There was once such a time when words used to flow, now it becomes a task to plead the mind to write.
(Anjana recently posted… Whiff of you – the meet)
Happens to many 🙂 It’s okay, I think. They’ll return when they want to. Thank you, Anjana.
So much cleverness! 😉 You’ll be back sooner rather than later and we’re all there to egg you on!
Hope so, Corinne. 🙂 I definitely hope so.
Enjoyed reading this. I too sometimes think about how inspiration came easier when I first started writing poetry.
It happens. 🙂 Maybe the excitement of a start keeps us going endlessly. 😀 Thank you, Myrna.
Wow! That’s beautiful!

A fabulous expression for the writing process and that scary writer’s block!
(Shilpa Garg recently posted… Life Sentence #WriteBravely)
Glad you felt so, Shilpa Garg. 🙂 It is scary, writer’s block. Not a pleasant experience.
Waah! I love the style where you have weaved your own acronym for nostalgic
(Nikita Dudani recently posted… Terminal Illness & Mental Health)
Glad you liked the poem, Nikita. 🙂
l love ‘pen kissing paper’. And congratulations on finding inspiration in the fact of being uninspired! 🙂
Hehe! 🙂 Thanks, Rosemary.
That’s so cool. What a way to tell a story/poem. Well done, Vinay!
(Parul Thakur recently posted… Pangong Tso – more than a lake)
Thank you, Parul. 🙂
I can so relate to the first line. ? I really envy people who have such clarity of thought that they only have to set pen to paper.
Me too. There are so many like that in this challenge, Apeksha.
