#23 – Crash and Burn
More often than not, when a friend is upset or feeling hopeless, I recommend writing it out as a solution. I find writing to be cathartic. But music is just as cathartic too. And so is friendship. Not everything can be talked out perhaps, but being there for a friend makes all the difference at times. I remember being the one feeling hopeless, and some friends just being around me so when I wanted to, I could express it, or just to let me know I’m not alone. I found this song, Crash and Burn by Savage Garden, when I was searching for songs on friendship. It has been a friend to me after.
This is one song I love for its lyrics. It has some lovely wordings that express friendship and it’s one that I feel can cheer anyone up. It’s one that I have recommended to friends when they’ve felt upset. It also has this peppy beat that helps the lyrics shine further.
The part of the lyrics I love the most?
When you feel all alone,
And a loyal friend is hard to find,
You’re caught in a one way street
With the monsters in your head,
When hopes and dreams are far away and
You feel like you can’t face the day…
Let me be the one you call,
If you jump I’ll break your fall,
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night;
If you need to fall apart,
I can mend a broken heart,
If you need to crash, then crash and burn,
You’re not alone.
To feel that there’s no one you can trust, to be alone and let every wrong, hopeless thought bite into you, and feel withdrawn from the world, that’s something very depressing. And I can relate to that. There were friends thankfully who did care, who told me that if I wanted to vent out, that I should and that they’re not going anywhere no matter how badly I vented out. Sometimes, it’s that escape from the sad thoughts that’s needed to realize and embrace the happy ones. And I try my best to be there for those friends who need me as well.

You do know how much I love this song. 😀 And yes true friendship always comes from the fact that you can be true to your self no matter what that may be.

I do? Oh yes yes. We’ve talked of it, Jb. 😛 And I agree. Friendship does come from being true to yourself as well. 🙂
Great lyrics. Its difficult to imagine a situation where we dont have a friend to lean on in our difficult times.
