#8 – November Rain

The instrumental sections add to the beauty of every song. And there are some songs where it is more prominent than others. With music, it happens that a friend would have shared it on their social media as their favorite, and I hear it and enjoy it at times as well. With English, there’s not really a language divide. I’ve not heard many songs from the band Guns N’ Roses, to be honest, but when I heard this one, I loved it.

In this particular song, the orchestra section is quite prominent, and I love the guitar section a lot. When I read up on the song, I came to know that that was one of the reasons this song was (and maybe still is) quite popular. As I usually do, I heard the song while reading the lyrics, and realized the song has some wonderful lyrics as well.

The part of the lyrics I love the most?

I know it’s hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn’t time be out to charm you

Sometimes I need some time…on my own
Sometimes I need some time…all alone
Everybody needs some time… on their own
Don’t you know you need some time…all alone

And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain
I know that you can love me
When there’s no one left to blame
So never mind the darkness
We still can find a way
‘Cause nothin’ lasts forever
Even cold November rain

Music is poetry, and different people interpret poetry differently. Reading the lyrics, I can relate to times when I’m depressed and no one seems to be trustworthy, and I withdraw into my shell. When it sinks in or I move past it, and accept it, I love life again and begin to feel like myself. Even sadness can’t be forever, after all, right?

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
