I open a book and jump inside,
The realm that’s hidden there;
For in its worlds, at times I find,
Peace and beauty somewhere.

I find the magic life can’t show,
With clues, I solve some crime;
In that hidden realm, I find,
That I can even go back in time.

My sanctuary this world feels,
My comfort away from pain;
Each word, I don’t just read,
In that world, I do live again.

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. Whistles!!!! This is absolutely inspirational Vinay πŸ˜€ what better realm to be immersed into than the one of books! Beautifully executed. Thank you so much for participating at Prompt Nights and for your constant love and support πŸ˜€

  2. Beautiful lines! And its indeed a fact that books are our best buddies, always takes us to a different world.. πŸ™‚

  3. this is so beautiful Vinay πŸ™‚ Totally loved it. I do enjoy reading books but would always prefer a movie over a book, am more of a visual person. But yeah no matter either of these, its living so many lives and characters via books and movies.
    P.S: I am so sorry that i didnt get to stop by your blog – just joined a new company last week and have been crazily busy with the work already plus the travel daily 20+ kms is tiring. the moment i reach home i finish dinner-the blog-and then sleep. Weekend too was catching up with lost sleep. Will surely come back reading the other blogs of yours as part of #halfmarathon. Bear with me until then buddy <3

    • I prefer visualizing it, SS. πŸ™‚ The movie is good, but to let the characters live in my imagination is more fun. So a very happy bibliophile, I am. πŸ˜€

      P.S.: I can understand. πŸ™‚ Take your time da. Settle in at the new company and come by whenever you can.

  4. All my life I have immersed myself in books and was so lucky to have my mother working in a Public Library in my teens to discover the world of adult fiction. I have never stopped reading since. What a great poem this is Leo.

    • I have no qualms in admitting I feel a bit jealous of you, Old Egg. πŸ™‚ I wish one of my parents had been working in a library too. I’d have had the most wonderful childhood then, better than what I had, I mean! πŸ˜€ Glad you could relate to it and feel it’s great!
