Silence
I wonder what silence can hold,
Why words just seem to dry,
It takes a lot out of a heart,
That it feels difficult even to cry;
How hard it is to let words go,
Embrace the silence and move on,
If only it was that easy to accept,
Those voices will always be gone.

Oh wow. I’ve often felt silence is powerful. It is very difficult to remain silent when the situation demands it. But the mind plays it’s old tricks. I’ve experienced it. Beautiful, short and to the point, Vinay!

Oh. It is very powerful. At times, the power is painful. Thank you, Sreedeep.
Wonderful 55!

Thank you, Sanaa.
This is actually a very profound poem. If one can learn this, maybe those voices will be gone.
(Sherry Blue sky recently posted… A Horse in Her Back Yard)
Yeah. The voices are already gone, Sherry. It takes time to accept that fact. 🙁
It is not easy to write a form poem in just 55 words. This is well done, Leo and carries a sensitive message.
Thank you, Kerry. Yeah. I had gone to 60, initially. Then cut a few. Glad you felt it was well done, and got the message too. 🙂
Ooh….accepting that certain voices will always be gone….now that is a hard silence to come to terms with!
Yeah. Very hard. I have been in that position, sadly. Thank you, Conscious Cacophony.
Very philosophical indeed 🙂
It’s wonderful to see how you expressed so beautifully in just 55 words 🙂

Thank you, Purba. 🙂
I feel the grief in your silence piece….letting go can be a heavy burden to bear for those left behind.
It can be. It’s a slow, painful process, I think. Thank you, Carrie.
I love “embrace the silence.” So hard, yet so important that we do.

It will take time, but I hope that that happens, De Jackson.
This silence suggests that there is a personal loss of some intimate dialogue once shared. Seeking the treasures in silence can be very difficult. A powerful one.
Absolutely, Gemma. That treasure is hard to find and sometimes, it feels an unwanted treasure too. Thank you.
Oh you drew me in with those fabulous opening words…and I dove right in to re-read these lines over and over.
I am happy that my poem had that impact on you, Donna. Thank you.
How to make the silence internal?
Difficult. It eats from the inside then, Rosemary. 🙁
My bestie always tells me – Silence is the hardest argument to refute.
I cant disagree with that at all!
The poem is beautiful as always Leo 🙂

It’s the hardest argument to refute, and the hardest to accept. yes. Glad you liked the poem, Pixie. 🙂
“Embrace the silence and move on,” is difficult indeed…..nice lines….

Thank you, Sumana!
Letting go is a difficult journey in itself. Ah but the voices may just be the companions we need. Listening is a skill
Much love…

Yeah. But we are letting go of the voices, so how can those voices be the companion any more? Thank you for the thoughts, Gillena.
This is a very touching 55.
Thank you, Mary.
If only it was that easy to accept—I can only sigh to that. This is so good for 55 words. 🙂
Never easy, nope. Thank you, Kelvin.
Each line is perfect.
Thanks, ZQ 🙂
Powerful. Just goes to show how well you write.
It never is easy.
Thank you, Dhivya. 🙂
Sometimes silence speaks the loudest. Great poem!
It does, yes. Sadly so. Thank you, Susie.
This is a touching and powerful poem!
