100 Days of Happiness – Day 54

It’s easy to find sadness each day, but to find a moment of happiness is difficult. Last year, I couldn’t bring myself to finish the 100 Days of Happiness challenge. This year, I am more determined to finish it — Counting down to 2016 with Happiness!

The Happiness of Fruit Salad with Vanilla Ice-Cream

100 Days of Happiness – Day 54

Since as far as I can remember, I’ve had a sweet tooth. In college days, I used to go to the society shop on campus and buy the 5 rupee Dairy Milk chocolates every day. To have them melt in my mouth was one awesome feeling (still is). My fondness for chocolate was so well known among my friends that one of them treated me to a Cadbury Temptations (Almond and Rum) packet on his birthday. I finished that off in about 15 or 20 minutes, I think.

But chocolates are one thing, ice creams are another! If there was a dessert that I would have day in day out without feeling bored, that’d be fruit salad with ice cream. There’s this nice place in my neighborhood that has been around since my childhood. It’s famous throughout Bangalore as well. When I visit there, I have fruit salad with ice cream always (or mango milk shake, depending on the mood). Of course, we decided we’ll do that at home too.

Happiness is… having fruit salad with ice cream, even on a rainy night, and enjoying it a lot. It took a couple of attempts to get the fruit to ice cream ratio right though. Not a big loss. We ate the trial runs too of course!

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
