It’s easy to find sadness each day, but to find a moment of happiness is difficult. Last year, I couldn’t bring myself to finish the 100 Days of Happiness challenge. This year, I am more determined to finish it — Counting down to 2016 with Happiness!
The Happiness of Eating Street Food
100 Days of Happiness – Day 22
On a cold winter evening, there’s nothing as joyous as sitting down and having some warm food. I remember, not long back, we used to make it every alternate day, but we’ve not done that in a while now. The main reason is that when we make at home, we tend to eat without control, and that’s not a good thing, at least for me.
There’s this shop on the route home. It sells what we love to eat, and it’s a very popular joint in the neighborhood. Medu vadas, chilli bajjis, stuffed capsicum fry, aloo bonda… they make it all in batches and at times, there is such demand that I have had to wait half hour even. But it’s reasonably priced and well worth the wait. Eleven pieces for around fifty rupees is quite acceptable.
Happiness is… buying and eating street food (or snacks) from that shop, coming home and having it with my family. It’s something we all love, though it’s nowhere as tasty as when mom makes it. And it tastes even better when there’s coconut chutney to dip in and hot coffee to sip slowly as well.

Yummy. . Street food is delicious. My favourite would be paani puri – the messier the yummier.

Paani puri? 😀 Oh, that’ll be a future happiness post, surely. 🙂 Street food is delicious, yes. Thanks, Tulika. 😀
You turned my mouth into an ocean with that piece, Vinay. I want a chilli bajji now :p
Jokes apart, street food gives you a cozy feeling. Those hot-out-of-the-pans snacks are something to savour at least once in your life!
At least once in a whole lifetime? 😀 LOL. We have it at least once in a fortnight, Sreedeep. 😀 Quite a cozy feeling, yes. 🙂
Street food is a treat at any given point of time. 🙂
And the spread you’ve mentioned here sounds delicious! 🙂
Pooja, they are very delicious. 🙂
I can do with a cup of cooffee for now!
