100 Days of Happiness – Day 21

It’s easy to find sadness each day, but to find a moment of happiness is difficult. Last year, I couldn’t bring myself to finish the 100 Days of Happiness challenge. This year, I am more determined to finish it — Counting down to 2016 with Happiness!

The Happiness of Wishing a Friend on Her Birthday

100 Days of Happiness – Day 21

I remember the dates of birthdays quite well. I think I get this trait from my mother, though she remembers almost every important date quite easily, and I don’t. The day today didn’t go as well for one reason or another but the happiest moment of the day was talking to a friend after a long time, and wishing her on her birthday.

I met her through blogging 7 years back. If someone told me we’d still be good friends seven years from then, I might not have believed it. I wasn’t the same person then as I am now. But since that day, she has been sort of a teacher too, having first introduced me to poetry forms and writing. She has helped me to become a better writer as well. She has been there to listen when I’ve needed it, and is a very fun gal to talk to even otherwise.

Happiness is… wishing a friend on her birthday. So here’s wishing the gal I first knew by the name “Pretty” a very happy birthday once again. And yeah, you’re definitely an awesome discovery in my life too! We should meet again soon, at Cubbon Park, where we met for the first and so far only time.

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. Great, when you have a friend who is also a teacher and a fun gal, you have a heady mix. Wishing such friends on their birthdays is really a special feeling! The child part of you jumps in joy!
