Thankful Tuesdays #39 – Heritage

Written as part of 52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge which I’m attempting this year.

Week 39 – Thankful Tuesdays

I wonder about this at times. I checked the meaning of the word “heritage” and I saw an archaic meaning that said “a special possession”. I think the most special possession I have is my love for words. I love reading novels and stories and going off into their worlds. It’s special because many around me do not understand that. They wonder why I “waste my money” in buying books or investing in a Kindle. I also love to write stories, and hopefully make my readers imagine the scene easily. Many around me do not understand that either, and feel it is just a pastime and hobby on which I should spend less time on. I have not inherited it, so I don’t know if it’ll be something I pass on to my children in the future, though I hope that it is, for it is one heritage that I’m very grateful for.

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
