100 Days of Happiness – Day 10

It’s easy to find sadness each day, but to find a moment of happiness is difficult. Last year, I couldn’t bring myself to finish the 100 Days of Happiness challenge. This year, I am more determined to finish it — Counting down to 2016 with Happiness!

The Happiness of a Reading Continuously

100 Days of Happiness – Day 10

I love reading. And there are quite a few books in my shelf that are unread. That doesn’t stop me from buying new books though, when I get the chance. The fragrance, and the feel of the paper of a paperback book in my hand, it is magical and I’ve often been lost in the worlds that lie between them. The best memory of them all is getting the last book of the Harry Potter series – “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” on the day it released and finishing the book, without missing a single word, in 6 hours flat.

Perhaps, that is one of the reasons I love reading fiction. For more often than not, it creates a world different than my reality, and I can happily escape into that. I had been one who was anti-Kindle, and e-books. Reading it on a screen wasn’t as magical, and that had made me dead-set against it; until recently, when I thought to give it a try. I borrowed my friend’s Kindle. And it was quite nice to read on it. I finished “A Game of Thrones”, about 836 pages, in about a week. And today, I borrowed her Nook Reader.

Happiness is getting back to reading at a stretch, and finishing 1/8th of the book, “A Clash of Kings”, which is 873 pages long, in about an hour. Happier is finding that reading on an e-reader is not as bad as I had once felt it to be. And happiest is that I will be getting a Paperwhite of my own really soon.

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. When you get that Paperwhite, I’ll wholeheartedly welcome you to the club. I’m also a person transformed from my misconceptions about an e-reader. It’s a different experience!

    • I am using since the last 4 days, and I like it a lot, Pooja. 🙂 No, it won’t feel the same as holding a book, but it doesn’t feel like I’m reading on a mobile either.
