Hidden in Darkness

Written as part of Sunday Scribblings 2 which gave the topic “Hidden in Darkness” as inspiration for a post.

Hidden in Darkness

I went to visit a friend who had been in an accident. He had lost control of his cycle and fell into the sewer.

“What happened?” I asked him.

“A black cat crossed my path,” he replied.

I laughed.

“Come on, I know you don’t believe in that superstition.”

He looked me square in the eye.

“I know I don’t, but the streetlight wasn’t on, and I didn’t see the damn cat till it was too late.”

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
