The Simple Things That Matter
Week 16 – Thankful Tuesdays
I’m thankful that whatever path my life has taken, I’ve been able to, and encouraged to appreciate the simple things. It hasn’t been easy; the temptation to go for the extravagant is always there.
I’d always been tempted to buy a computer when I was in school. Most of my classmates had it and it was on my wishlist every birthday, every results day, but my parents didn’t get me one till I was in 11th grade. But I’m thankful for that too, because it made me appreciate the value of playing badminton with my sister, playing on the old video game console with her too, and spending more time with friends and family outside, than cooped up inside.
Temper and I aren’t the best of friends thankfully. That has helped to appreciate the value of a smile, and I’m glad for that. It’s one of the most underestimated things, a smile. It can change the course of a day in an instant. It can brighten the day of a friend, in turn brightening ours. It shows that you care. And that matters a lot.
There are many things that come to mind when I’m asked about the simple things… love, family, friendship, and such for sure. And yes, writing a poem or reading a book. Not so much money. Money can come and go, but those things, they stay longer, till you yourself decide to let go of them. And even then sometimes, they stay.
Such things are, and I know no better word for it – priceless!

It always is the little things that matter most…
I have been blessed in this regard in ways more than one… 🙂
I have been too, Pooja 🙂 Quite nice to realize those little things that matter.
