Ten Things of Thankful (#3)

Those Little Things That Matter

“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light.”

– Albus Dumbledore, The Prisoner of Azkaban (movie)

Friday has come once again, another week has gone by;
some things to laugh about, and some to make me cry;
forgetting the latter now, the silver linings I shall see,
what made me thankful, and in life’s chains, feel free.

thankful to those, from TToT, who come by to read,
these ten things this week, that with this post are freed;
it feels nice to read their smiles, and their caring tone,
though with work, I hadn’t time, to go read their own.

this month of March, will repeat, my thanks for books;
gifted to me, by good friends, from the country’s nooks;
each book that came, it had a note, written so sweet,
some sent me chocolates, knowing my favorite treat.

I’m thankful to have nearby, some friends that care,
when I am in need, they just come forward to share;
one day this week, I forgot lunch, they saw and bought,
some fruits for me to eat, though this I never sought.

my mom lent me a calendar, one she holds so dear,
a gift that she got, and had kept safe, for many years;
might be a small thing, but to her, it means the world,
with a quote each day, to me, it’s inspiration unfurled.

money seems to come, and go away twice as fast,
it goes in gifts and such, and it never seems to last;
thankful to a friend, who sent the gift, a slower way,
but made sure it reached in time, on the right day.

thankful to those little pains, which helps me grow,
gives me perspective, on the path I’ve chosen to go;
helps me realize and accept, the choices I’ve made,
though I wish these pains take lesser time to fade.

thankful to this job I have, one that I like very much,
to many people, it doesn’t seem made for me as such;
a good boss, good people nearby, happiness around,
it doesn’t feel a chore, so I feel perfection I’ve found.

thankful for small joys, like an idea that came right,
just when I was about to give up, it found the light;
it made me realize, at times, how close are dreams,
when after many attempts, out of reach it seems.

thankful for patience, to help calm reign supreme,
when it’s pushed to the limit, and madness gleams;
it helps to laugh then, and to think things through,
before jumping at throats, being hurtful to few.

thankful for this love of words, always around me,
that I can touch a heart with them, is special I see;
even a single cheer that I get, it cheers me so fine,
so to win much more, I feel, is beyond cloud nine.

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
