The Best Idea I’ve Ever Had
A Trip Down Memory Lane – November 2014
It’s a matter of belief. When you are down in the dumps due to some reason, you expect your loved ones to pull you out of it, and reconfirm their belief in you to get out of it. That belief, believe it or not helps cheer you up sooner. There had once been a time when I was in one of those phases that I was having difficulty shaking off. And to make matters worse, rather than expressing their belief that I can shake it off, they decided I wasn’t capable of it, and pushed me to take help rather than do it myself. That pushed me further into the mire. Nothing seemed to work, and with every hour, I seemed to get gloomier.
When my friend messaged me, I asked him if it was worth living with the gloom. He seemed to understand my state of mind. And he told me to write something. He knew I had once had a love for writing. It was that idea that got the best idea I’ve ever had in my life. And on a cold November evening, I first explored the world of blogging, and started my first blog. Over the next couple of years, I took to it when I had something to write. After a couple of years, another phase got me writing on it more regularly. I began to read other blogs. I made new friends. Through their interest, I wrote more and more. I didn’t need a reason to rhyme. I did it because I wanted to.
November 2014 marked 8 years that I’ve been blogging. And it’s the first in this space, with my own domain. I’ve found friends who have stayed on in my life even when they’ve become less interested to blog. I’ve become a better poet and storyteller than I previously was. I’ve re-found a love to read more too.
Looking back at November 2014, I’ve done a few things that have made me happy. Like taking the book challenge, and writing about it here. Though I haven’t written all of the challenge, I finished it too. I also wrote a 4-part story with my good friend Jaibala, a love story titled A Love Story. It was so much fun to write together. The two of us had wanted to do it earlier, but laziness and/or work had delayed this collaboration. But the blog post that makes this month memorable for me in blogging is this sweet story, Alone No More. It’s special not because it was written on my blog’s 8th birthday, but because it was written for it by one of my best friends Ishithaa.

8 years!!! You’re a veteran now. But yes, you indeed rhyme without any reason. I especially loved the short posts you and Bhavya wrote for some challenge. More and more power to you.

Well, you putting words on paper (or typing them in a blog post) is as brilliant as it gets. And The collab, well, it was fun wasnt it?

Yes, it was fun, Jai 🙂 Can’t wait to try again. And yes, it is as brilliant as it gets perhaps.

I don’t feel like a veteran blogger, Sid 🙂 Still feel like a beginner, continuing to grow. And yes, will keep rhyming without reason.
