Appreciating Nature
{Word count: 100}

The place was beautiful, green unlike any park we’d seen in the city.
Even the steps that led to a pond below had grass and flowers growing on it.
“How serene is this, this lap of nature. I could get lost here forever, or write a poem about it.”
Alan had voiced what I felt, but hearing his words, I burst out laughing.
“What’s so funny?”
He looked at me, confused, but his voice held no remorse.
I stepped toward the pond, then turned around.
“You, whose company continues to pollute such lands, are appreciating it beyond words. How ironic!”

Dear VL,
That’s some cruel irony.
shalom,
Rochelle
It is, as you say, a cruel irony, Rochelle. But I hope the appreciation becomes remorse and they find some way to not pollute.

I would say that we are many living that irony.. polluting the things we find most serene and beautiful-

Definitely seems to be many, Björn. I hope it becomes lesser and lesser, and soon.

Sometimes, we just don’t realize how our actions are affecting others indirectly…
that was said beautifully Leo.
No we don’t realize it, Pixie. Glad you liked the story.

Quite captivating and ironic in just a few lines. Gives a strong point to ponder over.
(Nibha recently posted… Restless Truth)
Yes indeed, Nibha. What we think may not be reflected in our actions at times.

The action and words of Alan do not match. Yes, pollution is a very grave issue.
(kalpana solsi recently posted… Satyameva Jayate)
Very grave, Kalpana. Unfortunately, many such people exist.

Dear Vinay,
So often it is this way. Every villain is a hero in his own mind.
Aloha,
Doug

Oh. Yes, now that I think of it. Very true, Doug 🙂 Have a nice Sunday.

Vinay,
True irony. I hope the lesson begins to sink in before all is lost.
All my best,
Marie Gail

Thanks, Marie. Yes, I hope so too.
