Yet a book I disliked…

To talk of books is brilliant. My friends tease me that I might run out of space for the books I buy to read. That doesn’t really stop me from buying those books that appeal to me a lot.

Day 11 – A book that I disliked

There are some things, which if I find in a book, are almost unpardonable. The topmost on that list is proofreading errors. I agree that even a bestseller might have one or two, but not something that stands out and makes you frustrated while reading. Another thing is bland narration. If the story doesn’t manage to keep your interest, it feels less magical, like you don’t have the key to enter its world. When these things come in one book, then the book is something I dislike. Hate is too strong a word, because there’s usually something to like in a book, so I say dislike. Two books which have come my way have been Yet Another SE, by Simon Saha and Adhuri Prem Kahaniya by Santosh Avvanavar. It saddens me that I’ve had to give the two books a low rating, but though there were things about the book I liked, overall the things which didn’t work were more.

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
