Halfway there…

In response to the prompts at OctPoWriMo Day 15, and for UBC Day 15.

half way
can I play
rest my tired mind
pause my journey a day
and expect not to fall behind
that dreams will remain easy to still find
let me take a breather, then keep going somehow
so I pray they continue to be kind
for sometimes I do travel blind
trust what my instinct says
keep what I find
so I play
a day

The poetry form is a Diatelle, which has a syllable structure of 1-2-3-4-6-8-10-12-10-8-6-4-3-2-1 and a rhyme scheme of a-b-b-c-b-c-c-a-c-c-b-c-b-b-a. It looks best center-aligned.

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. Very Important to play. All work and no plat makes Vins a dull boy na. I think this imaginary race we are running, is funny. It keeps us running all our lives non stop and we expect to stop and rest after a “little while” which never comes. So we should just stop whenever we feel like and take a break.

  2. I just said in a previous comment how difficult I find it to follow form… this was so well done… To stick to a physical form as well… wow.
