Summer Woes…

NaPoWriMo was first held in 2003. It is an annual project where participating poets write a poem each day of April. There are optional prompts given by the site for writing. You don’t need a blog for taking part. You just need to promise yourself that you will write a poem every day of April.

oh! what I would not do,
for a little water today!
I can see my skin cracking,
the water from my body
slowly rising up and away.

I heard the earth crying,
couldn’t help but agree;
for I felt the same then,
my world spinning around,
my feet unsure of ground.

oh! this summer dries me;
oh! this summer fries me.

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
