NaPoWriMo was first held in 2003. It is an annual project where participating poets write a poem each day of April. There are optional prompts given by the site for writing. You don’t need a blog for taking part. You just need to promise yourself that you will write a poem every day of April.
far away flies a dream,
but closer now it seems,
when I look at it today,
in the sunshine it gleams.
it calls me like it’s true,
like it’ll happen, it’s due;
all I have to do is believe,
color it with my hues.
break away from pain,
all the unwanted chains
that you tied me with,
and soar free once again.
the horizon is still far,
that’s how dreams are;
but I must believe again,
and find my north star.
The prompt at NaPoWriMo asks us to write one or more ruba’i, a verse which has the rhyme scheme AABA.

Once you let go of your fears and the pain, your dreams are your biggest motivations and inspiration. They are what define you and make you who you want to be
Yes, they are what you want to be, I guess so, Jb 🙂
This is so pretty – for me, whose dreams have been disappeared, it seems, this is a wonderful and hopeful piece of writing.
thanks, and glad you found it hopeful, Jp 🙂
I hope you find your north star soon. 🙂
Mee too, Poosri! 🙂
break away from pain,
all the unwanted chains
that you tied me with,
and soar free once again….
I especially liked this part. So often we hold onto that pain and find it difficult to break away from it and just be free. Good luck in finding your north star 🙂 I hope the journey is a beautiful one.
I hope it is too, NJ 🙂 Thanks a lot.
