A smile…

NaPoWriMo was first held in 2003. It is an annual project where participating poets write a poem each day of April. There are optional prompts given by the site for writing. You don’t need a blog for taking part. You just need to promise yourself that you will write a poem every day of April.

I had lost a smile today,
it flew away in the breeze;
it kissed the dark clouds,
and the top of oak trees.

it touched then your eyes,
and it came upon your face;
you waved a cheery hello,
and it broke my dark daze.

it came back to my face,
the smile that I had forgot;
it made me happy to see,
that I was in your thoughts.

The prompt at NaPoWriMo didn’t feel inspiring enough. This is just a random attempt.

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
