NaPoWriMo was first held in 2003. It is an annual project where participating poets write a poem each day of April. There are optional prompts given by the site for writing. You don’t need a blog for taking part. You just need to promise yourself that you will write a poem every day of April.
what is this life, if full of gloom,
we only have time, to think of doom.
no time to think, of joys in life,
no time for peace, only for strife.
no time to see, when people smile,
when we pass them all the while.
no time to hear, the cries of hello,
as in the race, at full speed we go.
no time to taste, what we prepare,
just to swallow what is, our fares.
no time to stop, the roses to smell,
the fragrance that can cast a spell.
a poor life this, if we cannot feel,
a touch of care, that can be real.
The prompt at NaPoWriMo asks to let’s rewrite a famous poem, giving it our own spin. When I hear the words famous poem, the one that comes to mind immediately is Leisure by William Henry Davies. So I chose to try my own spin to this poem.
