Your Journey

forget the destination,
for that you already know;
once your heart has seen,
it’ll show you where to go.

forget not the journey,
those obstacles you meet;
when you rise above them,
you finally find your feet.

always look around you,
with every step have fun;
so when you finally reach,
you won’t feel quite done.

NaPoWriMo was first held in 2003. It is an annual project where participating poets write a poem each day of April.

One of the prompts given at the NaPoWriMo site was to use the Bibliomancy Oracle, and get inspired from literature. The words I got were, “Destinations are lost. You raise yourself. No one else is seeking.” from After David Hammons by Claudia Rankine. This poem is inspired by those words.

(2nd April 2014)

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
