March 2013 Haiku #02

origami rose –
my life unfolding
in verse

Shared with Haiku Heights.

(March 11th, 2013)

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. aloha Leo – outstanding ku (imo). i like this a lot.

great juxtaposition of the two main threads—fragment and phrase.

very cool twining of the visual rose with written verse.

and cool again on bringing it into the personal level with “unfolding” which also overlaps “origami”.

each line is a clear image or could stand as a clear image and yet when taken together there are variations on meaning.

i read recently another haiku mind/thought/concept—that a good ku can have the first and last lines switched and the meaning will remain the same. i believe this ku works in this way too.

yeah, i like this ku a lot. cool. aloha.

  2. Simply wonderful. It unfolds simply revealing many layers. As always, I am not disappointed when I visit your haiku and I always learn something.

  3. What a beautiful haiku. I’m one of the A-Z Minions and just wanted to stop by to say hello. I’m glad to have found your blog, it’s great to meet you. Good luck with the Challenge! 🙂
