Beyond the farthest cloud
On a then distant horizon
I once saw a dream shine
No one else could see it
Though I told them of it
So I knew that it was mine
I declared then a yearning
For an unseen new dream
The world laughed at me
Cited I was a young fool
To build castles in the air
And ignore whatβs reality
For a moment, I doubted
If what I saw was a mirage
But the shine I still found
So against them I stood
And walked on with hope
My feet on uneven ground
Far I traveled in my quest
Found friends to tag along
Came near the dream star
Yet the closer it did seem
To my despair that dream
It now felt even more far
Return, said the old world
It is not too late for that
Together we shall dream
Yearn for a long term life
That can really come true
Return, and let us redeem
I know that I cannot now
The dream is just mine
I believe it can come true
So I shall still walk along
Yearn for that bright star
Keeping it always in view

I hope the star remains in your view forever Leo! And you never know, the dreams residing in the deepest corner of the heart might someday come true…
Commenting in your blog after what seems like a looooooooong time. Feels great π
I hope so too, Kirti. It might some day come true, yeah, absolutely. Hope so π Good to see your comment after a long time, and I’m delighted to see it first on the poem as well. π
like crabs in a pot they will try to pull you back…and often no one else understands your dream anyway…i wonder how many dreams are lost this way?
Too many to count I feel, Brian. Lots of dreams lost that way, and lost to pressure and loss of hope. I feel sad thinking of it, and hope I never end up that way. But life is such, I don’t know what the next twist holds for me.
I enjoyed this very much. Always keeping one’s eye on that bright star / dream — very important if one is to find it. Smiles.
Yes, very much so, Mary π To keep us focused and moving onward, and believing in it as well.
The most ‘felt’ dream, the most awaited one, is all one needs to move to heights. That said, a great write as always. Am happy and proud I know this place! π
Great to have you at this place, reading and supporting, Janhvi. It missed your presence π Yes, a dream is what we need to climb the heights!
amazing poem, no one else sees our dreams so we can’t expect them to understand! All our dreams never get fulfilled. It takes a lot of courage to keep striving for making our dreams a reality. (it is eerie that I have also written a poem about dreams, which I haven’t posted).
Yes, we can’t expect them to understand, but some people not supporting also brings a small doubt at times. Nothing big that you lose sight of the big picture, but still, a doubt is a doubt π All we can do is do what we can to get them to come true.
Thanks, Meenakshi π That is quite a coincidence.. but then again, dreams are something everyone has, so its quite good to write on them isn’t it? π
Awesome poem, Leo! Youβve beautifully illustrated the very essence of not-letting-go of what you strongly believe in; no matter what, or how futile your dream may seem to others.
Yes exactly π if you let go of the belief, who else can hold it for you? No one π
Thanks, Gracy for the kind words, and also for the many “likes” on my blog today. Cheers!. π
Wow…nice poem.
Some dreams, no matter how unreal they seem to others, are food to our mind and soul to live on….
Keep moving on till your dream is able to touch you, because before that you will always be looked apon with doubt.
” If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavours to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”
~ Henry David Thoreau
Most of my dreams are food to my mind and sould too, Riddhi. I can’t help but move ahead, move towards them, no matter how slow π I can’t stop even if I was chained to a spot.
That’s good, cus even if you were, your friends and family will be there to break the chain, or uproot if from the ground π
Not always π It depends on the dream, Riddhi.
Hmmm….true that.
