Lazy winter rain …

winter mist fills the morning sky;
a quilt held upon the still world,
skims the head of swaying trees,
falls on new leaves as silver dew,
such a refreshing sight to view;
its scentless scent enchants me,
in a heap I lie, only awake partly,
as these endless flecks of mist
cloud my clear window pane,
wondering why life loads again,
feeling lazy like this winter rain.

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. Nothing quite like snuggling up under a warm blanket in winter mornings 🙂 Loved the way you describe the mist as scentlessly scented and lazy. Beautiful one, Leo.

    • Rain and laziness, yeah I guess so MMT 😉 Maybe it feels more lazy in winter coz its cold as well and I look to snuggle under the quilt and sleep a few extra minutes 😀

  2. I always used to read in my science books that summers make people lazy, but always felt the other way round. Who like to venture out in winters leaving the comfort of a cosy quilt! Yes… I am lazy in winters! superbly written!!

    • Thanks, Mary for enjoying the write 🙂 I think I’d despise shoveling, but wouldn’t mind winter rain or snow as long as I get to sleep in late 😉

    • Thanks, Abhinav. 🙂 I like snow. but don’t get it in these parts. So have to be content with being lazy in mist and rain 😉 glad u stopped by. Cheers!

  3. cloud my clear window pane, – I loved this line, seems to be double meaning. Winters turns me lazy too. If only I could gaze at the endless rain for hours with steaming tea for a company..

    • Hardly get time to write single meaning yaar, Adg 😉 Ismein double meaning kahan se laaoon? 😀 I love days of endless rain too. Such fun thinking of such days itself…! Glad you stopped by. Cheers 🙂

  4. This is exactly how I would like my Sunday mornings to be, dreamy, warm, lazy.
    Loved all of the imagery in this. I wish we could stay with the rain here instead of our sub zero temps, snow and ice…

    • Thanks and glad you liked it, Sabio. 🙂 I mean to say, I wonder why must life continue again in that day, why can’t it just freeze at that moment, so I can stay lazy and stay in bed, looking at that morning mist which seems like winter rain being lazy as well. 🙂
