He had a kind face,
the only one in the crowd
who noticed me there;
the others bickered hard
with the guy who hit me.
I was lost, didn’t follow
what was happening now,
as many did stand above
trying to handle my life.
He got me to my feet,
brushed off the ferns
stuck to my overcoat,
guided me to that café
where I’ve seen him sit;
he took some candy
from the sturdy cabinet
behind the dusty counter,
that was but dimly lit;
and recommended I eat,
it’d bring me energy,
slowly, surely, bit by bit.
He smiled as he left,
leaving me to recover
in the hearty company
of many a cricket lover
who with each over
did anxiously observe
the ticking of the score;
in the warm shelter,
I soon felt much better,
and I talked with zest,
but to my surprise,
as I ate corn on the cob,
I heard the kind man
sold peanuts for a job.

a random act of kindness which i wish becomes a norm in the society of ours…
That’s a wish too much I think, Sanjana. Don’t see it happening 🙁
This surely was a case of random kindness … well done !!!
Thanks, GS.
Sounds like a difficult situation…but with one kindhearted person responding to your needs.
Yeah, exactly. One in many, Martin. Odds are so wrong, yet that’s what makes reality at times.
So beautiful and heartfelt Leo. It’s amazing how one person can change your life. Loved the kindness here!
One person can easily do that 🙂 Thanks, Write Girl.
Acts of random kindness, wish there was more of it. Enjoyed your poem. Thank you for sharing.
I too wish the same, Morgan. Thank you for reading.
God comes in disguise.
Very true, that. Thanks, Harshadji.
There are kind souls who truly expect nothing but to help another….
