A memory…

like the wind –
a sudden wind
that soothes
my burning heart,
you came tonight,
when I lamented
a loss
I knew not I had,
and consoled me;

and

like the wind,
you also fanned
dying embers
that were once
my happiness;
and hopes
spark now again.

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. I love how you gave the wind the ability to soothe, console, and also the ability to bring hope alive once more. I could feel this poem deeply.

    • Glad you could feel the depth, Mary, and this makes my poem successful I think. The wind does have that ability, and I’ve felt it often. Cheers. 🙂

    • Indeed, Martin 🙂 I hope they never go out either, because when we seem to be in melancholy, we need that spark most. Cheers.

  2. usually ppl associate memories with sorrow.
    But you have done brilliantly on the contrary.

    Yet, I feel that slight tinge of sadness accompanying it.

    P.S. Thank you for ur time

    • Memories can be sorrowful too, but not always, Aravind. Glad you felt it to be brilliant. 🙂

      P.S. Time, that’s what is on short supply of late, sadly. 🙁

    • Thank you, Dark Angel 🙂 It doesn’t necessarily have to be a person in the memory. Can be a fun time or many persons too.
