The first sunset I remember…

On the Facebook page of this blog, on 15th March, I started a fun venture, asking the poets who liked my poetry page to respond to a topic that I gave. The two best poems, I would post it here. Three wrote for the 2nd FC topic, “The first sunset I remember”. These 2 stood out for me.

The first sunset I remember! – by Ellecee

The first sunset I remember
(there must have been
hundreds before it
that I hadn’t eyes to see)
the sky was awash with color
brilliant and beautiful
glowing and receding,
glowing again and receding
until most of the light had
gently faded from the sky
leaving me
to the twilight time
and thoughts
of you

The first sunset I remember! – by Simran

The first sunset I remember
That changed me and my life
Sitting at shore below the orange sky
Turning wide into dark dusky
I was lost in miseries of life
That gave me nothing but a little hope to survive
How long the hope can be alive…
If life itself stops you to revive
Messed up my thoughts
Diverged were my paths
No one to listen me and feel my pain
The first sunset I remember
The beginning of my transformed life
I remember!
I was lost in delusion
Waiting for the ruminating flow
To touch and engulf me
Make me lost into its eternity
Meeting death
But then I realized the certainty
Certainty of miseries
How can I withdraw this beautiful gift of God
This uncertain life;
For just certain curse this life gave me
Life is short then why to make it lost?
God is my strength ; he resides within me
And the moment!
I heard my inner soul perhaps the God’s voice
”Never let yourself lost in the darkness of miseries
Come up with much more power and strong believe in yourself
when things go wrong , recognize yourself and prove!
This world would applause for you and sigh at their deeds
There will be Sunshine ; you’ll succeed .

Hope to see you both, and more of you at the next fortnight! The topic is up at the page already, and it ends on 30th April. Cheers!

Today is also Simran’s birthday. I wish her a very happy birthday and hope she has a wonderful day today, and a wonderful year ahead! 🙂

(April 16th, 2012)

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
