Night’s music…

In the sky, a diamond sparks;

The music of a fleeting wind
sweeps through the silence,
trapped in oak’s branches,
its whispers in hollow reeds.

Lit by thousands of fireflies,
conducted by the still stars,
Nature’s concert starts again,
as the moonlight falls on us.

Its lyrics of drowned sorrow,
given by us to the darkness,
makes our mindless worries
fade slowly as dawn comes.

In the ice-like October night,
the heat of smoldering fires
keeping their dreams warm;
half the planet sleeps cozily,
oblivious to night’s magic.

November PAD Challenge Day 20. #novpad20

The month of November sees the Poem-a-Day (PAD) challenge, hosted by Robert Lee Brewer at Poetic Asides. Day 20 theme is to write a poem about the “best ever” something. This, about the “best ever music”, is the second of three on this theme, which I find intriguing. Thanks Robert for the inspiration.
Sunday Whirl #31

The Sunday Whirl, hosted by Brenda Warren, offers twelve or thirteen words to be put into a poem or story. This prompt is the 31st over there.

D’verse Poets, Open Link Night #19

D’verse Poets is an online community of poets from around the world. Open Link Night, now into its 19th week, is their weekly feature where poets can link in a poem of their choice and writing, to share with the world.

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.
