Loneliness in victory

I know I can fall anytime,
and it frightens my mind;
though I have nine lives,
what if the world laughs?
And I find it even harder
to climb back up again…

Trapped in these heights,
between the branches;
wandering eyes envious
of my position of vantage;
Trying to help me down,
when I speak of my fear.

If only they all could feel,
my loneliness in victory.

November PAD Challenge Day 10. #novpad10

The month of November sees the Poem-a-Day (PAD) challenge, hosted by Robert Lee Brewer at Poetic Asides. Day 10 theme is to write the poem looking from a different perspective.. I wrote from a cat’s perspective, but if you look at it, I don’t think it’s much different from some of our own. Thanks Robert for the inspiration.

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. 'Loneliness in victory' reminds me some words I read in a magazine few years back : In the crowd you are alone,while climbing, you are alone, when you reach on top, the success and appreciation makes you forget the pain of your journey, but in the end, even there you are alone. No matter what place you are in life, you will have to be alone. So get used to that. Many people want to reach the top for all the attention and praises that place displays, but in reality, that place is the most loneliest place, for even with victory besides, you are alone!

  3. Loneliness in victory.. a wonderful thought.. the emotions of a mind to have reached somewhere and yet scared to return for the fear of defeat..!Does it pain to be lonely in victory or does it enlighten? I am wondering..
