Hey friends, today is an important day in my blogging journey. The completion of 5 years since I began to jot down my thoughts on this space… as with each year, I’ve invited one of my blog pals to write a guest post. Thanks for the support you’ve all given me through the five years, both through praise and criticism. It’s helped me grow… Without further adieu, let me introduce to you, Janhvi (JJ).. her words follow…
Today is the 5th birthday of this blog – Its two homes are here and here. And on this special day I have been asked by the author Leo (Vinay) to write as a guest. It’s truly an honour to be writing for/about this blog and about my newest dear friend.
IRWR – I Rhyme Without Reason…. is the last place to look for unreasonable writings (be it poetry or otherwise). One of the best poetry blogs around (and the only reason I am adding “one of” is because there may be blogs I am yet to discover… so no categorical statements); it awed and amused me the first time I dropped by.
I still remember my first reaction after going through the blog – “Perfect and beautiful”. Though I had no clue about the author except what was written in the blog itself, one thing was sure, he was a great guy, very down to earth, and with an art with words. And how happy I was to be proved right when i came to know him. 🙂
I owe my friendship with him to another blogger, who shared our email-ids with each other. We got talking to each other just randomly. About the blog, about blogging etc. Just like any friendship, the chats became more based on us than the blogs with time. The blogs did keep coming in the chat, but the frequency became less and less. This continued for some time until a fair enough balance was struck between the topics of the chat.
From knowing just the author to knowing the person has been a wonderful experience. And i hope it continues. A poem for both the person and the author: (I wish it could be original but it’s not – sadly):
It was at random that we met,
A chance that not many get.
When I heard the “Uh Oh”,
How was I to know!
That you would turn out to be my special friend,
Someone who could be there,
Until the end.
No matter how I feel or what I do,
I know, in my heart,
That I can count on you.
I’ve never seen you,
Heard you, or touched you.
Those kind of chances are very few.
To meet someone from far away,
Never knowing if they’re here to stay,
Not knowing if what they say is true,
Of what they’re doing and telling you.
So far away, but yet so near,
The “not knowing” is the fear.
Is it truth, or is it lies?
Will a heart grow, or will it die?
Either way, the bonds of Friendship’s strings are tied.
One’s needs are met,
Some with regret.
Some with hope,
Some with pain.
But still, the answer is plain.
If we hadn’t met,
On that very day,
Things would be different
In every way.
The emptiness may be filled,
A life may start to rebuild.
A heart may be broken,
Or made to mend;
All because of that
Thanks JJ for the wishes! And for gracing my humble little blog with your nice words! 🙂 Friends, there is a poem written by me for the November Poetic Asides challenge just before this post. Do read that too! Thank you! 🙂
