Found a treasure..

A dusty sheet of paper
lies almost forgotten
between empty pages;
it holds my heart within
a few treasured words,
the first I had written
complete with rhyme;
my heart feels light now,
for what has returned
was much sought after.
Now it’ll stay guarded,
like a lone rose petal
hidden in heart’s pages.

November PAD Challenge Day 4. #novpad4

The month of November sees the Poem-a-Day (PAD) challenge, hosted by Robert Lee Brewer at Poetic Asides. Day 4 theme is to write a poem on something I found unexpectedly. Recently, while cleaning the attic of old books, I found the sheet of paper on which I had written my first poem almost fifteen years back. I chose to write on that. Thanks Robert for the inspiration.

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. Lucky for you that you still found that beautiful piece of poem you have written many, many years back…:)Is that the poem you have posted a couple of years back?I wished I had done the same…I mean saved the paper where I had penned my works of prose and poetry when I was young…25 years back or so!

  5. Do you find that your style has evolved heaps since then? I like to revisit poems I wrote years ago, because they bring back memories, but I don't think I could express how I feel as well as you have Leo… Beautiful words. =)
