The Lost World…

lost to words and my world,
I forget sunsets and sunrises;
I forget the songs of robins,
and the hullabaloo of traffic;
instead, I lose myself always,
in the light of my inspiration,
in the typewriter’s music,
bringing a new spirit to life.
with broken nibs I battle on,
trying to capture spilt inks
of my thoughts on a paper;
but time; my ally, nemesis;
each moment passes me by
as far from stagnant lives,
my own suffocates, within
four walls that entrap me.

Magpie #89

Tess Kincaid gives the image I have used in the post, as inspiration for poets and story writers alike, in the 89th Week of Magpie Tales.

The 192nd Week of One Single Impression, hosted by Sandy Carlson and Andrée Reno Sanborn, gives the theme Sunset as inspiration for a poem.

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. I see exactly where you're coming from with this, Leo. I do sometimes regret the sunrises and sunsets missed – and the bits in between – because I've been lost in writing.

  3. "I lose myself in the light of my inspiration".. absolutely loved the line.. also the nemesis but not stressing much abt that!Lovely transition from the passion or inspiration in writing to the helpless soul, fighting against the time that entraps it..!
