On heart’s papers..

forgive my broken feet,
for they are dead tired;
dancing with the ghosts
gathered from my past,
around me like a hoop.

painful my life, topples;
hit by a thousand tears,
I wish to run far away;
but my shoulder bolted
causes me to die here,
drop to my knees again.

I wonder, if I speak out,
will relief be discovered
or will my heart burst,
drowning in shallow sea
of an unending horror.

alas, I have not a soul
to listen to my sorrows;
and my words to stay,
forever inked in blood
on my heart’s papers.

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. I have ears to hear and love to listen! Save the paper of your heart for when you find the one that compels you to fill the pages with light and joy and love! tonight, you'll find lots of ears willing to listen! Wonderful, yet sad write, Leo.

  3. Reads as the uncertain hand of journals – when all pretense and masks fall; a fine closing stanza – for the heart is the first and the greatest journal of our lives, particularly our writers' lives.

  5. Oh, I really feel this one. It seems like there is no right way to go when you are buried under secrets, but even if it's hard to speak, in the end it's always better to be free. Someone will listen, just be sure to tell the right someone.

  11. Such a sad and powerful poem, Leo, something I suspect we've all felt before. I can definitely relate to the feeling of having no one to listen to my troubles. Of course we can always go to God in prayer, but sometimes we need another human to hear us. Fortunately, my friend, we have a whole Internet of people to listen. :)Well written.

  27. What a brilliant poem! I can relate to these words very much. I was going to say what my favourite lines were, but having read it over again several times I really don’t think I can choose – every line is so good! 😀

    I’m very new to blogging and I am not sure what the rules are on reblogging (if there are any), especially when it comes original writing. Would you mind if I reblogged this?

    • Hi Suzy. Thank you for those kind words of praise for my poem, and feeling that each line was quite good 🙂 I’m glad you liked it.

      I checked reblogging & how it works. I think that should be fine 🙂
