The Power Of Memories..

in many notes
of rusty memories
I see myself crawl
on the edge
of the untamed sea
tender hands
creating castles
of sand under the
morning sun
as prophets sing
first prayers

I dare the sea
to crush them
cemented by
a belief in myself
to forget scars
if failure grasps
I watch anxious
as my name
written to claim
is swept by waves
before it takes
my prize creation
I take the pain
start over again
for a castle isn’t
a castle if built
near calm waters

as I recollect
my childhood
it gives me hope
a strength to walk
past any torment
this life now has

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. I enjoyed this one, Leo, especially these lines:

    I take the pain
    start over again
    for a castle isn’t
    a castle if built
    near calm waters

So much truth and wisdom here…

  2. The dedication, perseverance and hope filled in this poem, the firm unwavering determination in the face of calamities are the qualities that make this poem outstanding!! Well crafted with great imagery!!
