Friendship {Senryu}

The form of poetry here is the Senryu. A senryu is a three line verse, originating in Japan, that deals with emotions rather than nature. It is similar to the haiku, and has a 5 – 7 – 5 syllabic format.

I wish every one of my readers and friends, a very happy Friendship Day.

Many drops of care
Spilt in an ocean of love
Mixed with silliness

Sprinkled on life
To last an eternity
Truly, a priceless gift

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. Beautiful senyru, Leo. Love is certainly a priceless gift. The beauty of it is that when we read your poem we can feel it because we can all relate to it

  2. How dreary daily life would be without precious treasured friends!!….and we live from day to day knowing that they are there near!!

    Happy friendship day to you too Leo!!

    • Saras sir, I know of it 🙂 I wanted to keep it as on life so made it a 4-7-6 format for that senryu. Glad you found it lovely! 🙂
