I confess now, I did a wrong before,
But if I can, I wish to make it right;
It may not be what fate did have in store,
But it happened, that ugly unfair fight.
It was he, who provoked me, stirred the pot,
Unintended names he called, hit the heart;
Calm I stood, as I would, till his word shot,
Lost control, for that wound, took me apart.
Soon I had him beat, but I did not stall,
Emotions unchecked, I pushed, took him out;
That night still fresh, memories tell it all,
Remorse I feel; in dreams, I hear his shouts.
Would he forgive me, if I begged him now?
Or does vengeance sit deep in mind somehow?

I wish him to forgive Leo.. and always stay calm even if someone words hurt because time has power to heal.. Here is my post.. Oh, this is …. ReVeNge
Someone is Special
Yes, I wish him to too, SiS 🙂
nice words Leo. i particularly like the second paragraph. though why is the title “revenge”? you are seeking for redemption isnt it? or is it because of the particular incident when u took the revenge?
Well, it is because the BAT post needs to be titled “Revenge” 😛 And I don’t think I’d win it anyways 😉 Heheh! Just kidding.
Glad you liked the poem, Kirti 🙂
umm i wanted to ask you something Leo. some forum called “poetry is my sunshine” sent me some sort of invitation and there are some blog awards attached… i am to claim them??
Hey Kirti, I’ve not heard of that forum before. It is possible that they do exist, I just don’t know of them 🙂 And anyways, it is in the end your wish if you choose not to claim. Blogging award badges are not a must to be accepted and passed on.
I am a novice when it comes to poems but this one was good; good storyline and emotions flowing through!
Though, personally I felt it was more of a vengeance than revenge!
“ATB for the BAT…
Read mine at Revenge is best when served cold
Regards
Wandering Thoughts “
Thanks Aashish. Isn’t vengeance the act of taking revenge, so it is nearly the same if not exactly? 🙂 Glad you liked the poem.
On first read , I felt as if some part of my life has been replicated in words , as if the poem was about me 😛 On a serious note, the thoughts behind the poem and struggling of expression, juggling between feelings , those commonly uncommon .. The concept, I feel, is quite simple , but with words, you have made readers empathize .. As usual, your poems are always commendable , always leaving a mark in thoughts .. Good luck dude …
Thanks for liking the poem, and good luck to you too, adreamygal
As always, the beauty of your words is accentuated by the complexion of your blog page.
More than what you have said, it is the unsaid that commands deference.
A very poignant rendition of regret and the apprehension of retribution.
Glad you liked the blog page 🙂 Thanks for reading the unread, Brijender.
Nice composition Leo! Loved the sonnet 🙂 🙂 All the best for BAT!!
Wish you the same, Sunil 🙂
Nice poem, Leo. But then all your poems are nice. Other than that your take was unique. Instead of approaching the prompt from the point of view of one seeking revenge, you have got into the shoes of one fearing revenge. Btw , you can can check out my BATON take here : The Fool – Revenge
Not all my poems, The Fool 🙂 Some are not up to mark, some are even way below it 😀 Glad you felt it was different.. and good 😀
Well expressed .. not the usual violence that comes with revenge!
Yes, I wanted to go a different route, Aativas 🙂
Poetry is an effective means of communicating yourself, you delivered it in a perfect way, nearly !
All the best 🙂
Thank you very much, Animesh. Glad you felt it nearly perfect! Cheers!
A thoughtful write.
Thank you, Mama Zen.
a very different way to handle the topic…
Thanks, Tinu.
Oops, this was something of a shocker. Personally I feel revenge never leaves either party happy. But then, the human mind is complex… like you very well explained in verse. Lovely!
Yeah.. very complex.. sad though! Maybe someday we won’t think of revenge, Deboshree! 🙂 Thanks for liking!
Nice poem. Very well written.
Glad you liked it, Vikram.
Lol, I feel fab. after taking revenge on someone n then sit n float in guilt later…..Well, with your way with words, you will be forgiven ;p 🙂
Hahaha! Lets see, may happen, may not either, Shilpa. Thanks! 😛
Nice poem 🙂 loved it… beautifully portrayed 🙂 if u have time, do check my Revenge 🙂
Thanks and glad you loved the poem, Preethika 🙂 Sure, I’ll give it a browse soon.
Well Leo Good one mate ..

Anotomy of Revenge ……..Nice poem. I liked it. ATB for BAT
Thanks, and wish you the same, Vitthal 🙂
Revenge is hardly ever meant.
Yeah, guess not, Enchanta 🙂
The revenge born out of instinct/intuition is more original(brutal?) than the one born out of conscience and conviction …
I couldnt say more as the word ‘fate’ obstructs me.
Deep thoughts in reply, Mahesh. Thanks!
Vengeance always sits deep, we humans revel in carrying around excess baggage.
I do not appreciate poetry, mostly because I can’t write poetry even if my life depended on it. But this, this is beautiful…
Good luck:)
Thanks, and glad you liked my poem, Priyanka. 🙂 And I believe that anyone can write poetry. Just needs a flicker of an attempt. I know coz I’ve seen many friends who tried and got attracted to it too 😎
beautiful. little sed, a lot meant 🙂
Thanks, Sadiya 🙂
neat composition. deep thoughts, well summed up and put in with nice words.
Loved it.
Thanks and glad you loved it, Sush 🙂
hey, since you say feel free for critiques.. no offense. Just an opinion. how about changing the background colour from orange to brighter or lighter. People like me have short sight plus I work on computers whole day through and the eyes do strain most times.
Have done so, Sush 🙂 Cheers!
