The Ghoul’s Gala .. All Ghouls Welcome!

A wreath on the door
Of black roses a dozen
A carpet on the floor
Of dead leaves, ashen
The lights are far gone
Darkness, embrace me
Time for all ghouls now
Begins now Halloween

Jack-o-Lanterns aglow
Time to trick or treat
Here at Ghoulโ€™s Gala
Where all are to meet
The banquet is ready
This lion the little host
In his favorite costume
The pillowcase ghost

Welcome to the Ghoul’s Gala, the Halloween Party! All Ghouls welcome! Due to various unwanteds entering the banquet hall, I’ve asked Franky Frankenstein to keep an eye on the door. So he might not let you in without me telling OK. I’m always at the door though, unless I’m occupied elsewhere. Don’t run away, I’ll be there to let you in as soon as I can. You only need approval for entering the first time, then you can go back and return any time you wish! The food is on the table, so help yourself. There are sand witches, bee(r)s and even diet pepsi, for those ghoulies watching their heaviness. Have a spooky ball, and the Weird Sisters will give you all a head splitting tune!

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. Gotta love the pillowcase ghost, cute little dickens.

I liked the all around meter of this piece and the understatement, not the full-fledged screaming shrieks usually found around this time of the year. Classy.

  2. why not share this with potluck tomorrow night at the same time,
it can be seen by all of our participants if you enter it as soon as it is open, and then, double the fun.
    best wishes.

  3. Ah! This is wonderful. The structure gave so much essence to the poem. You’ve picked up an interesting theme to go along with Halloween as well.

My entry is here. -Happy Potluck and Hallow’s Eve
