I said I hated you
The way you never
Tried to understand
What did follow
Was silence between
I was the reason
Things went unseen
I said you didn’t care
For that relation
Between us, never
Tried to continue the
Love that always held
I was the reason
Things never gelled
I said nothing when
You walked away that
Fateful day; or when
You called me just
To try and explain
I was the reason
For all of my pain
I wish I’d said more
Spoken from heart
Perhaps then you’d
Have listened; we’d
Have had a new start
I realize now dear
Silence can offend
I was the reason
Friendship did end
Still a part of you
Is always in my heart
Can I be that reason?
For another start

beautiful!
I’m in a daze…:)
ooh.. why though, ET? 🙂
Okay, but I have never gotten her back. I have three that I tried to get back and in the latest case the jury is still out
LOL
oof.. we don’t get them back always, do we Chris 🙂 😉 hope your jury rules in favor 😀
“I was the reason
To inspire my frends
Pen down Haiku or
Acrostic or Poems”
You can add this also…
Such a lovely thought…
–Someone Is Special–
nope.. this is for one person only, SiS, not my universal list of reasons 😛 thanks for liking the lovely thought.
fun verse…
well played…
there are reasons for everything.
Happy Friday!
yeah, reasons for everything, Jingle 🙂 well, almost everything 😉
Wonderful Leo! It’s never too late to start again, right?
thanks, Jaspreet.. glad you liked it.. yeah, never too late..! 🙂
a very touching poem, full of emotions
🙂
thanks very much, Gabriela 🙂
Leo, I always thought silence was less likely to offend than speech. You have made me think again.
sometimes Vivienne, the silence that comes when one is expecting a quick worded patchup is more offensive I feel. because there is expectation that you’ll say what you feel, rather than take it in your stride and be silent.!
Oh the regrets and how long we carry them. I like the structure of your poem and the couplet refrain after the stanza. It emphasizes how we often go back to the same place and wish we’d done it differently,
Elizabeth
yeah, most of the times, we wish that we’d done it differently for sure.. but we don’t always get that second chance 🙂
sometimes, one deserves a second chance..!
glad u liked both structure, and refrain 🙂 thanks very much, Elizabeth..!
welcome back to the big tent!
good to be back, Carolee, thank u 🙂
How often we blame ourselves for something vile! And sometimes, it’s partly true too!
But then again, there is always scope for a fresh beginning.. yet again…
Nice one, Leo.. really liked the hopeful way you have ended the poem..
yeah, always there is scope for a new beginning.. thanks for liking the poem, Kavita 🙂
Nice sentiments here Leo!
Pamela
thank you very much, Pamela 🙂
Aw, maybe so!
hope so too, Tumblewords 🙂
I can relate to this so well! Yesterday I called someone a bitch and it was mainly because I was angry with myself. A strapping poem for sure – and so well written.
yeah, most of the times, what we speak out, it is in anger or frustration.. I can relate too, Diane 🙂 glad u liked the write-up!
I was the reason
For all of my pain
I really liked what you expressed here.
thanks a lot, Nan 🙂 glad u liked it..
Dunno why , but after reading your poem , experienced something different .. I was waiting for these words from one of my friend and how I wished that person could say that , though not in the awesome way like you .. 🙂
Coming to the poem , well for whomsoever you have written , I am sure once that person reads this , they will give you an another chance sure , because nobody would like to lose a friend like you ! 🙂
hmm, maybe that friend of urs will say the words soon n patch things up between you both 😀 thanks ADG 🙂
I appreciate the sentiments expressed Leo, yes, taking responsibility of relationships is indeed very courageous and show what a kind heart you have.. you may be missing someone but trust me that someone must be missing you more.. only making a confession or speaking truth is what not everyone can do..all the best for a fresh start.. you inspire Leo..thanks! Be around always in this magical space..
yep.. wise words you share, R’ji 🙂 thank you.. and yeah, will be here..!
oh i hope so…and you can only do your part and leave it up to them…nice write. happy tt!
yeah, so true what u say, Brian 🙂 glad u liked it.. happy TT..!
Yes, welcome back.
“Silence can offend” struck me as the narrator understanding what went wrong.
yeah.. he understood it indeed, Deb 🙂 thanks for the welcome 😀
Nicely done!
thanks Mama Zen 🙂
