I breathe, but
I am not living
Empty my heart
Void of emotions
Is it really true?
Questions many
But answers stay
Empty; without
Meaning, without
Soul in the words
That seeks only to
Console me for
Now; to show a
Life that I myself
Have stopped to
Believe in; empty
Of souls who seek
To hold my hand
And truly revive
My hopes of life
My dreams that
I find are dying
A scar on soul
That burns like
It’s been etched
Deeper than the
Eyes can perceive
Takes more life
From my already
Depleting hopes
I lie, breathless
Awaiting just
More emptiness

For One Single Impression – Prompt 131 – Empty
Image of painting found HERE. Original painting by Argentinean artist Natalia Tejera.

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. Well done Leo.. but sadness.. well it will go in the flow.. just like that..you are amazing..

And regarding your comment on my page Leo Feeling is mutual.. I may not be able to stop writing lengthier poems.. but will reduce the lenght considerably.. and yes, I think I am enjoying Haikus a lot.. have written plenty in past few days.. but prompts restrict..anyways have added one more to the post visit again if you can.. Thanks Leo.. you were the one to guide me..

  2. A deeply wounded and scarred heart living without hope is really suffocating. Very Melancholic…but as usual a good write… πŸ™‚

  3. At times, we feel that way, well, more often I guess!

But this must be what life is all about! Not always a bed of roses!

This is a beautiful poem but quite poignant!

Btw, I have an award for you in my place, do claim it! Thanks…:))
