The Cottage

There’s a cottage
In the clearing
With walls of peach
It doesn’t age
While weathering
Rain’s far reach

There’s a cottage
In the clearing
Where sun smiles
Where happiness
And hope resides
All the while

There’s a cottage
In the clearing
With windows clear
No curtains to
Hide the inside
Nothing to fear

There’s a cottage
In the clearing
Walls of stone
None of its kind
Anywhere near
Yet never alone

There’s a cottage
In the clearing
That I do find
In many ways
It resembles
My little mind

Poetry & writing to me are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. There’s a cottage
    In the clearing
    I don’t find
    Words to descirbe
    This beautiful Work
    Of Leo (Leonnyes)
    I always wonder
    How This Writer
    (The Amateur Writer)
    think and ink
    Fresh and Sweet
    Hatts off Leo.

  2. Very sweet poem.
The refrain at the start of each verse is brilliant!! 🙂

    Loved these lines too:
    “In many ways
    It resembles
    My little mind”

  3. “There’s a cottage
    In the clearing
    Where sun smiles
    Where happiness
    And hope resides
    All the while”

~ I find these lines most appealing in your poem. Especially when you compare this Happy Cottage to your mind…
    Beautiful Flow!!
Excellent Words to go with the picture..

  4. Lovely Leo – love the metaphor to the mind…a beautiful cottage with nothing to hide…Great Magpie…bkm

  5. This was sweet and thoroughly happy; I sensed before the ending that the writer was describing him/herself; the windows without curtains suggested an open-hearted soul. The last line didn’t surprise me therefore, but left me with such a feeling of pleasure for the author’s happy soul.

    • thanks Broken Pen Writer.. yeah, I knew I’d sort of give away the ending.. but still, it turned out pretty good 🙂
glad of the pleasure for my happy soul. thanks again, for stopping by! 😀

  6. love the repitition through out which provides a great foundation for the reveal at the end of it being like your mind…nice mag!
