Mind’s Flight

No bird
I feel on earth
No place to open my
Wings and chase a cloud
Like a dream that is so far away, this life seems worthless to live, survive more, love happiest still
Escape seems daunting to think of, to try and remove these chains that weigh me down
That holds mind captive to the ground without regrets or even second thoughts
My wings are short, how long I’ll travel, I know not now, may never know
For each inch I fly, makes my wings feel clipped, eyes tearful in pain
But I forge onward, still hopeful of a day that proves me wrong
Shows the strength of my wings, shows I’m a survivor
Till such a day comes, I attempt to keep stable
Keep flying without fear, or even doubt
For this mind, fickle yet
Strong too, indecisive
Yet composed at all
Times, still keeps
Me sane
Going on
For I’m an eagle
And a phoenix too
Only mind differs a bit
Like flight needs balance

Poetry & writing are to me, a breath of fresh air in a life that is sometimes covered by the smoke of sorrow or self doubt. They also become the sweets I share to celebrate when life offers me a reason to. But most of all, they are to me, my life. For each word I write is a piece of my heart, a thought that just had to find its way into the world.

  1. Purrrfectly balanced bird in flight!! πŸ˜€

The mind is said to be everything. We are said to become whatever we think we can be and want to be. πŸ™‚

  2. I always enjoy coming here to see what amazing thing you came up with this week. The Flight poem is Fantastic, Fabulous, and Flawless!

  3. Reminds me of the winged symbol of Zoroastrianism.

Perfect bird in flight and words that describe the mind in flight – perfectly balanced. πŸ™‚

  6. Leo, your posts are always so moving and beautiful. This one especially touched my heart because I feel the “heaviness” of my wings so many times. Thank you…

  7. Wow, Leo. Beautiful words in a beautiful form. I wish I could fly too. I’ve escaped on the astral only twice and I long for that freedom.

  8. Your bird, be it an eagle or a phoenix, is a great bird that soar in the sky.

There are gannets in New zealand that commute from Australia to New Zealand every year, My friend likes it very much and likes it to be his mascot.

You are creative in the design, I am too old, like you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. LOL

    Thanks for visiting.

  9. The shape of the poem and the poem go well together. Very creative! You don’t need photos! And the contents of the poem appeals to me, which is not always the case.
